Georgica Designs & Deb

Sometime ago I met Deb from Georgica Designs through Etsy, It’s amazing how you can feel the community sense on Etsy. I just love it.

She ask me to send her some information about me and my work. And now it’s time for me to share her work here.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my itty bit of craft space – Georgica Designs.  I’m a lover of unique and fresh fabric designs and began making and selling my fabric greeting cards on Etsy in 2008.  I tend to source my fabric when I’m travelling – always on the hunt for great fabric shops – and love geometric, intricate and colourful designs.  I love giving friends a really unique card that I know they will love (plus they make great mini works of art when framed!).

 

Recently I’ve introduced a new line of mini embroidery decorations – guaranteed to brighten up any bare wall or shelf.  I really like the traditional Japanese Sashiko and geometric Islamic patterns.  I’m currently working on a range of Islamic patterns which will be available in my store later in the year.

The design of the pendant lamp “Granny” is a direct response to the climatic challenges of cold winters with its long tradition of gatherings in living rooms around the fireplace, where grannies used to knit while telling stories. Granny is a reminiscence of childhood. Pure natural wool from sheep bred on green alpine pastures in the remote valleys of the Tyrol - the harsh climate and the rough terrain is home to high quality handcrafted production rather than the industrial. Each piece is hand-knitted by the cooperative Wandschappen including senior citzens and people with special needs.
